Recent projects on sustainability

In 2025 I will do assignments for the municipality of Hengelo, among others. You can read about a number of other projects I did below.

Policy support

  • The municipality of Hengelo has a considerable number of energy and climate objectives, for 2030, 2040 and 2050. Can progress towards these objectives also be measured and estimated? I have investigated and answered that question (2024/2025).
  • In 2023, I contributed to the PBL’s ‘Learning evaluation of climate policy’ on the topics of grid congestion and local heat transition. I did this through interviews with stakeholders and contributions to workshops. Client PBL (2023).
  • Together with Harmelink Consulting, I wrote a starting document for the municipality of Tilburg for the process of their Heat Transition Vision (2019/2020).
  • What is a ‘fair’ Climate Policy? I helped Friends of the Earth Netherlands develop a new, fair view on the climate transition (2017-2019).
  • How active is the municipality of Zandvoort in climate policy? Together with Harmelink Consulting, I evaluated the policy in Zandvoort and we provided the municipal council with concrete guidance for an active approach to this dossier (2016).

Research

  • Consortia of Dutch knowledge institutes are investigating the circular potential of so-called product groups. I have evaluated the collaboration process around these studies for the purpose of a next series of product group analyses. Client: PBL (2024).
  • Good accounting rules for the removal of CO2 from the atmosphere or its reuse are still in their infancy. For NGO Natuur en Milieu I prepared their policy paper on definitions and preferred accounting rules for CO2 removal and reuse and C-recycling (2022).
  • Together with Emission Care I investigated sources and reaction mechanisms of PAH emissions from Dutch asphalt plants. Client: Bouwend Nederland (2021/2022).
  • Which factors on the domestic market ensure a successful export position of Dutch eco-innovations? Commissioned by the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, we interviewed nineteen key players from the business community. The results are included in this report and five essays (2016).
